Internet will be down tonight... Boo hoo!

Just doing a little post now, since I didn't have a chance yesterday and my internet provider will be down for service for most of tonight. Still taking the antibiotics but now I am coming down with a bit of a cold- stuffy nose, dry cough, brutal headache... I think it is simply a change of season thing, since we have been experiencing late Fall breezes. I am being very careful, to cover my head when I am outside, and am taking in lots of fluids. I even started boiling a pot of water on the stove at my place with some VICK's in it to help clear my nasal passages out. The apartment is kind of dry so it is helping a bit...

I don't tend to be sick very often so these two things at once is making me very cautious. I wash my hands more than usual and notice my tan is fading quickly as a result! LOL! BUT better to be safe than sorry. Soon, I will have to return to the store to stock up on wonton soup... I just can't get enough of it these days!

I am mostly praying I will fight off any worse symptoms since I am a horrible sick person. I hate it with a passion... I mean, I don't know many people who like being sick, but taking medicine and the like YUCK! (I am sure mom can share some embarrassing stories of medicine and me, from when I was a kid!

Hope that school is treating the rest of you teachers well. Enough blabbering for me for now, I don't have much concentration right now to make a coherent blog! got some good news yesterday, a friend of mine who lives in Medicine Hat now is 11 weeks pregnant! Yeah!! Another baby that I can be an honourary Aunt to!

I was told my internet would be down, but alas, no beans! (I am certainly not complaining!!LOL)

I worked on pure adrenaline today. I was tempted to not return after lunch but went back anyway, and survived! I thought the students would be tough on me, knowing that I was not feeling the best and hoping I would go home sick. but they were kind. Think it is because I am helping them get their rap careers started, finding rap beats on Limewire for them, etc. At the end of PSD this morning, I gave them 20 minutes to create a short rap verse about themselves (we are working on developing self-esteem and understanding their self-image, etc.) Then at the end of class, I asked if anyone was brave enough to share their verse... I had to break the ice, so despite not feeling 100% and being nervous, I shared mine and one of the boys shared his. It was good, he was really creative and actually did share some of his personal thoughts about himself...

Anyway, nice that my internet is not dead... but I am gonna go watch Big Brother... And it sounds like MAYBE Chill town might be broken up, the girls SEEM to be coming to their senses!!! I hope they get rid of the boys... slap that smug look off of their faces...

We shall see!

You seem to be one day behind up there, Big Brother wise that is-- You know you can upload your rap to bolt so we could hear it, ------you may even achieve fame----as a rapper and artist--- when are we going to hear your interpretation of the painting???? Inquiring minds want to know!!

Yeah, I guess I am behind one night... Oh well, it is a good episode... Even one day late!

the rap was really impromptu... Eventually they will hopefully have a full song written and I will help them to record it, but as of now, they are just experimenting and becoming more confident with expressing themselves.

Hmmm, the painting... It's funny, but I almost found all of your thoughts more profound...

For me, the images had more literal connections than symbolic...

The turtle, having been your suggestion, makes me think about all of my blogger buddies, and how much I feel free to express myself in the blog setting...

When I look at the fish- I think about Nancy and other friends up here in the North, since fishing is one of the fave activities of most of my friends up here...

the background as mentionned before reminds me of the ocean and harbour in yarmouth... I love spending warm summer evenings down on the waterfront, just watching...

The caterpillar and butterfly reminds me of my students (and generally the kids from town since a few girls who dropped in to visit suggested it). I added the caterpillar, to show that growth is a process and that in the end, beauty and the freedom to fly is the result.

The rocks on the bottom, remind me to always stay grounded...

The lotus... goes with the Gibran quote about self-knowledge: For the soul walks upon all paths.
The soul walks not upon a line, neither does it grow like a reed.
The soul unfolds itself like a lotus of countless petals. And Self- Knowledge is so important in order to find happiness...

The snake is because in the midst of everyday life, situations, circumstances and other people can sometimes sneak in to our lives and perspective, poisoning our minds and view... Instead I hope to live in such a way that I am conscious of the presence of the poison, and of the serpent, so that I can avoid it's impact in my life...

The frog.... hmmm, that reminds me that our beat in life should be lively and hopping, focussed on the positive and upbeat aspects whenever possible...

I also liked your ideas about the 4 elements, and think that feeling a connection to the environment is important to me, especially living up here...

Finally the ladybug, simply makes me think of the importance of courtesy and kindness, liek a true lady! Silly, but also an important thing to be reminded of on a daily basis...

So, there nothing bvery profound or symbolic, but all the same meaningful to me!

Have a great evning people!

Wonton soup... mmm, has a basic clear broth, with small chinese ravioli (thin wrapper and small pork meat blob in the middle)... The broth is light but has a salty flavour that is nice hwne you are a bit dehydrated and sick...

It's also nice with a dash of real brewed soya sauce... i like the kind that you find in the frozen food dept. with a chinese company name on it...

Thanks for your interpretation-- I have always been fascinated by ladybugs- and whenever I see caterpillars, I think about transformations-- and cocoons--- love all the elements you talk about, and did you notice that Mar calls herself Lotus on her blog?
