Open, Honest... Refreshing...
I have a friend who has a blog. To be honest I don't know if she reads mine since I am SO infrequent and inconsistent, but I read hers religiously. She was a friend from my homeroom in junior high, we also went to high school however, we sort of drifted apart more then, different circles.
I sort of lost track of her for a few years after graduation, then heard only bits and pieces about her life when I would run into school friends and we'd reminisce. Until the 10 year reunion, when I ran into her and her girlfriend with a crew of revelers and enjoyed a fun evening of blues music and beers at the local subterranean pub.
It turns out that since high school she studied art and has become in my opinion a rather accomplished artist/photographer. She works in the National Gallery, but is a consultant/active in many other art related endeavors as well. She is a lively, passionate, beautiful, active, successful woman and proud member of the Ottawa lesbian scene.
I forget when I learned about her blog but when I started reading I couldn't stop. I bookmarked it and check it out every few days since she is so candid and open with her thoughts, beliefs and dreams that reading it is rather an addictive experience. I am challenged by some of her thoughts and attracted by others. I am fascinated by her enthusiasm for love, sex and life and her uncertainty about specific aspects of those things. I am refreshed by her honest, openness about her life, her goals and dreams- even her dirty ones- and has a sense of humour and humility about them all.
I find myself pondering whether I might ever be so transparent, even with a pseudonym, as she is. I don't know if I would have it in me, to live day in and day out with few secrets?
