Health benefits to blogging!

Okay, I have been thinking about the content of this post for a couple of days and since I am in the mood to blog right now and am lacking any other title, then I feel that the time has come to share my hypothesis...

In the past couple weeks, since beginning my blog, I have noticed some definite health benefits to this habit. First of all, blogging has replaced time that I would typically have spent, mindlessly in front of the television. My tiny 13 inch, second-hand TV is a welcomed companion- and don't get me wrong I am into Big Brother, Survivor (when it is on) and a few other shows like House, MD- but lately I find that I am more eager to check blogs than tune in.

No try to follow this train of thought- due to my elevated time on the computer I have noticed a distinct decline in random, un-necessary snacking, since watching TV is a hands-free activity thus easily lending itself to the use of hands in a snacking way, but blogging requires the constant dependence on the hands to type out thoughts, thus leaving no time for snacking. Of course, I would also not want to take a few chips in my hand on those momentary thinking breaks since crumbs might then be transferred to the keyboard and lower the life expectancy of my iBook!

Second of all, I am fairly convinced that the increased blood flow to the mind and fingers during a blogging period, MUST burn more calories than simply sitting numbly in front of the TV. I am sure that excitement one feels as you wait for the comments to upload (the faster beating of the heart et al) is practically like a low impact cardio workout!

So, that is my theory- may the scientists among our group please comment on whether this might make an interesting research project for a Master's thesis! LOL. (that means you especially Mike!!)

So, I guess that my thesis statement should read something to the effect of, "Blogging is more effective than watching TV for people who are on a weight loss program."

Oh I wish it was so--- but I am living proof that blows that theory sky high---The blogging bug hasn't curtailed my eating habits, as the mirror, scales, and zippers testify---- but I have been watching less tv--- my finger get a lot of exercise though, they're looking thin and trim--- I'll be thinking of you tomorrow--- anxiously awaiting to hear all about your first day---Frank went back to work today-- and there was a cool fall breezy feel to the air--- smells of back to work----- good luck--

Back to Work, can't believe it is already that time...

My brain has been doing lots of planning however, my body has only been motivated to a little bit so far... I work best under pressure, and think that if I can only close myself into my class tomorrow, MAYBE just MAYBE I will be able to get all of my administrative paper work done.

The air up here has been quite chilly today. Yesterday was rather warm, but today, the crisp wind is both welcomed and a stark reminder that holidays are over!

I'll try to touch base tomorrow evening, and hopefully I can brag of all of the productive things I have finished...

I totally agree with your theory...it's a good one and I think it should be explored more closely. I was down visiting my family (Nannan, Fireguy and Traveling Man) this weekend, and Nannan told me where you lived. I imagine your winters are quite something. In the past I have lived 'up North'. Four years in Moosonee Ont...and a year in Goose Bay, Labrador. Man, it was cold. But in those days we had no TV there, and of course there were no computers. So we had to make our own fun with our friends. We would play board games every Friday and Saturday night...it was kind of fun.
But I still remember the cold...shiver. Keep us abreast as winter approaches. And maybe get some pictures if you could. No pressure...
So take care and keep on blogging!

Honestly, you can make a thesis out of anything! I just read one title that examined the effects of Persian Baha'i migrating (and living in) to Sydney and the difficulties they encountered. THat was a PhD thesis... They're now called Dr. for that...I'm in the wrong field... I think it is ... healthier than watching tv for sure though. I look forward to reading your illuminating results on this topic!

Hi Everyone-

Tuffysmom- There are a few poeple in my town here that are orignially from Goose Bay, when did you live there?

Mike- Really, that could make them a doctor? I'll be looking more closely at the wall in the doctors office to double check what kind of "Doctorat" my physician has... Just to make sure before they ask me to drop my pants! LOL!

I'll have to go for now- half of the first work day is down and man, I am proud of all of the work I have finished so far. Usually I am way to ADHD to stay on one thing for longer than 20 minutes... I have been asked whether I would be interested in becoming a principal someday since our Principal is close to retiring... I love that kind of stuff, so you never know...

Better not procrastinate on here any longer... Will post new thing tonight!
